Wyatt and his family arrived early Friday evening. We had a few cocktails and chatted about this and that. Then we got The Even Funner Bus parked and leveled. The Even Funner Bus is Fred and Mindy and Wyatt's motor home. They had one before this and our niece Olivia hopped on board and announced that it was the Fun Bus because there is food, drink, and a t.v. on it. So when they got a new motor home, Chad christened it The Even Funner Bus.
On Saturday we had a memorial service to attend for a family friend. Not A.T., but Pat Farmer. Pat was a long time family friend. My mom bucked hay for Pat's dad, R.C., when she was a teenagers. Pat was one of the few people that my parents both enjoyed spending time. He died of Prostate Cancer. He was diagnosed with it more than 4 years ago and given 3-6 months to live. He started a type of hormone therapy and decided to live as long and as good as he could. And he did.
Mindy decided to have Fred drive us to Lewiston for the service in The Even Funner Bus. So he did. We had food, drink and comfort all the way. We also got a speeding ticket from Mr. Idaho State Officer on the way there. We were passing cars right and left...and 77 in a 65 was too fast!! ( : Dude was funny, Fred was funny...they joked back and forth and the officer still issued a ticket. It required no signature and literally looked like a receipt from Safeway. We saw him with someone else pulled over on our way home. He saw us and Freddy honked and the officer nodded. We all laughed. Who knew getting a speeding ticket could be fun?
We barely pulled into the driveway and Mindy's barrel racing chiropractor, her husband, and dad pulled into the driveway. It was planned, but we didn't think they would arrive so soon after we got home. This friend of Mindy's is the one who will be first up to purchase Tari's baby by DTF if it comes out with the wrong plumbing. Mindy's barrel racing chiropractor and her family just moved to the Spokane area and are refurbishing an old Thoroughbred Farm. They are going to go full swing into the barrel horse business next year.....but they are also avid team ropers...so I really don't know exactly their plans...yet! ( : Super nice people. We went to Mexican and had a really nice night. Chad, Fred, and Ken (barrel racing chiro's husband) chatted about Ken's job. Then they chatted about guns and cars. All very interesting I am sure. We at the other end of the table talked...well, horses. Go figure. Wyatt got stuck on the job, gun, car end of the table for most of the night. But he likes cars and will be a hard worker when he grows up...so the job thing wasn't a problem!! ( :
Sunday morning we got up and headed to Sand Point to the Draft Horse Festival. We go every year. Met up with the middle sister Kacey and her boyfriend Jeremy. All of the kids were with the other parents or hanging with their friends, so Wyatt was the only kid out that day! We LOVE the draft show! We may ride the light horses, but all fantasize about the heavy breeds that we would like to own. Sunday is the last day, so some of the vendors had partially packed up. There seemed to be less vendors than there were last year, but we still did some window shopping before we got to the barn. We always stop at the barns before we go to watch the show.
Chad loves the Belgians. Jeremy loves the Clyde's. Freddy likes anything big...he had no preference. I like the Frisians and Clyde's. Mindy and I decide we need Frisians, they are pretty handy, so maybe we could run barrels on one heheheeee!! ( : When we get to the Carlaw Clyde's, Wyatt and Jeremy got pretty excited. ( I probably spelled their name wrong, but they are form B.C. and come every year.) Their horses are always awesome. This year as we walked down the isle, Wyatt squeaked from his walker at all the horses. Kicking and flapping his arms as if he was trying to get up and pet one of the horses.
Wyatt found yet another friend. This Clyde gelding thought the Wee Human was t
The squeaking and flapping really got the attention of one of the Clydes. The horse who had originally had his head out of reach popped his head over the rail and began to interact with Wyatt. He lipped at Wyatt and seemed to love the baby's flapping and squeaking. His lip just flapped around and his eye stayed soft regardless of what the kid did.
He also gave the rest of us the cold shoulder. As long as the baby was there, the gelding only had eyes for Wyatt.
No other horse in the entire barn showed the same kind of interest Wyatt as this gelding. That gelding was awesome!!
Wyatt even did a booger check on the gelding. Didn't want him to go out in the arena with a hay booger in there!! ( : It was a great time!!
